About the Watch & Jewellery Initiative 2030

Driven by a common conviction that the global Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and aspirations for a responsible industry can only be achieved through collaborative efforts, the Watch and Jewellery Initiative 2030 (WJI 2030) was launched by Cartier and Kering in 2022.

WJI 2030, Member of the Global Compact and signatory of the Women Empowerment Principles is a global initiative open to all Watch and Jewellery players with a national or international footprint committed to a common core of key sustainability goals in three areas: building climate resilience, preserving resources, and fostering inclusiveness.

More than ever, we remain committed to share our common vision of a future where all Maisons, their suppliers and business partners in collaboration with key stakeholders are empowered to deliver positive impact on the planet and its people. As an Association of Public Purpose, engagement with the global environmental and social ecosystem is vital to deliver on WJI 2030’s mission to create positive outcomes for the planet and for people by uniting watch & jewellery industry stakeholders with ambitious goals, shared learnings, and collaborative, high-impact projects.

The association is based in Maison de La Paix in Geneva, Switzerland.

To create a responsible Watch & Jewellery industry that is resilient to climate change, preserves resources and fosters inclusiveness.

To unite Watch & Jewellery brands committing to ambitious goals while collaborating on projects that deliver impact all along the value chain.

We build a work culture where employees, members, associate members, key stakeholders rigorously communicate with their peers and exchange ideas and thoughts, which gradually builds up trust and pride. It is about involving everyone in our initiative in making decisions consistent with our values. We are visible about the actions we take, and we report on our progress.

We act with integrity. We treat each other with fairness and respect. We demonstrate compliance with legislation and regulations.

Our Members (Maison members, Partner members and Affiliate members), employees and service providers must respect human rights and labor laws, and comply with laws and regulations on the environment, health and safety in all the countries. We treat Members (Maison members, Partner members and Affiliate members), partners, staff, volunteers, and the public with respect and dignity, valuing and promoting different opinions and perspectives working together so we all feel inclusive and create a safe space to grow and learn.

We are all courageous ambitious leaders, thinking big and taking urgent action to improve the world and achieve the 2030 agenda; we challenge each other, have the confidence to innovate and exchange learnings and best practices, and we move together in partnership to deliver positive impact and leave no one behind.

We offer an effective space for peer collaboration, learning and exchange. We commit to the success and well-being of our members and key stakeholders. We network, share experience, innovate, collaborate, report on progress in the areas of our 3 pillars to advance the 2030 agenda.

We relate to our stakeholders as partners. To work with our members and key stakeholders effectively, we must develop strong strategic relationships based in mutual trust and respect as well as effective and impactful collaboration every step of the way. We relate to each other with respect, kindness, and understanding. We embrace the principle of accountability together to deliver results on the commitments we make.
